Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance (CWEA) has appointed Kate Radford to the new post of Climate Change Programme Manager.
Reporting to the Cheshire and Warrington Climate Change Group and working closely with the Climate Change Unit at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Kate’s key responsibility will be to facilitate the delivery of the Northwest Climate Change Action Plan in Cheshire and Warrington.
With an MSc in Environmental Change from Brunel University, Kate joins CWEA from the London Development Agency where she was Project Development Manager for the Climate Change Team. Kate also has extensive experience in the recycling sector having worked with local authorities and been responsible for a team delivering projects to improve recycling in the City of London.
Kate will act as a focal point of contact for partnership activity and driving change on climate change issues in Cheshire and Warrington and her first priority will be to develop, with partners, a Climate Change Action Plan for Cheshire and Warrington. The aim is to ensure that the causes of climate change are reduced in the sub region and that, where necessary, businesses and residents are able to adapt to the adverse effects of climate change.
“I’m really looking forward to starting my new role and meeting all the regional partners” says Kate. “It’s really important that we work together to ensure regional policy and strategy lead to real environmental improvements on the ground for both businesses and residents”
Martin Lee, Chief Executive, CWEA says “We are delighted that Kate is coming to join us to take up this exciting new post. The effects of climate change are having an impact on our businesses and economy now and we look forward to taking a lead in addressing some of these issues.”
Mark Atherton, Head of Sustainable Development & Climate Change at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) which led the development of the Northwest Climate Change Action Plan, said: “I am pleased to welcome Kate to this new role where I am certain her extensive knowledge and wealth of experience will prove invaluable in tackling climate change in Cheshire and Warrington. It is vital to ensure businesses and residents are prepared for the environmental challenges which lie ahead of us and can take advantage of the opportunities a changing climate presents.”
This post has been funded by the NWDA.
