CWEA Appoints Climate Change Programme Manager

Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance (CWEA) has appointed Kate Radford to the new post of Climate Change Programme Manager.

Reporting to the Cheshire and Warrington Climate Change Group and working closely with the Climate Change Unit at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Kate’s key responsibility will be to facilitate the delivery of the Northwest Climate Change Action Plan in Cheshire and Warrington.

£1.5 million grant for EA Technology’s Energy Innovation Centre

The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has approved a £1.5 million grant towards the construction of EA Technology’s Energy Innovation Centre which will based in Capenhurst near Chester.

Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance (CWEA), in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), has appointed Andrew Heydeman to the new post of Employment and Skills Co-ordinator.

Ellesmere Port Training Provider Gains Beacon Status

TTE Training, the North West's leading provider of Engineering and Laboratory Operations Advanced Apprenticeships, attended an award celebration in London recently, one of only 7 providers in the UK to have achieved Learning and Skills Beacon Status awarded by the Quality Improvement Agency.

The company operates from a purpose-built £2.2m training centre in Ellesmere Port and is currently the highest ranked training provider (college or work-based) in the UK in the Engineering, Manufacturing and Technology sector.

Mapping & Gapping Climate Change Activity in Cheshire & Warrington

This study on "Mapping and Gapping Climate Change Activity" across Cheshire & Warrington has been undertaken for Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance (CWEA) and Cheshire County Council (CCC) on behalf of the Cheshire & Warrington Climate Change Group. The study was aimed at identifying the current position of all partners in the Cheshire & Warrington sub-region in relation to initiatives that address climate change through mitigation and adaptation.

Connect2 Wins £50 Million Lottery Bid

CWEA would like to thank everyone who voted for the Connect2 Peoples' Millions Lottery Bid submitted by Sustrans which was televised on ITV1 on 4th December 2007.

The Connect2 bid aims to revitalise walking and cycling in 79 communities across the UK by creating new routes for journeys made every day. Crossings and bridges will be created over busy roads, railway lines and rivers, linking into new networks of local paths to get you to where you want to go.

16,000 More Workers Needed for Cheshire & Warrington

To meet the Government target of an employment rate of 80% of the working age population, Cheshire and Warrington will need to get an additional 16,000 people into work. In addition, Cheshire & Warrington’s economy is growing faster than the North West average and additional workers are essential to meet the increasing demands of businesses to ensure the ongoing prosperity of the area.
